Intro to Clay Class
This beginner's level class will provide you with the fundamentals of working with clay: hand-building, throwing on the wheel and glazing your finished works.
Time will be split evenly between working with clay to form various hand-built forms (platters, mugs) as well as time learning to center and throw the basic ceramic forms on the wheel, trim your work so that it's ready for firing, all while learning good studio practices. There will be dedicated time for learning the art of decorating and glazing your work so that it is both finished, and food safe.
Beginner’s Wheel Part 2
Prerequisite: 8 Week Intro to Clay Class
This 5-session Part 2 Beginner wheel throwing program is designed to help participants build on their foundational skills and refine their techniques.
Over the course of five 2.5-hour sessions, participants will advance their wheel throwing skills by creating more complex forms, working on consistency, and experimenting with design elements.
Beginner’s Hand-Building Part 2
Prerequisite: 8 Week Intro to Clay Class
This 5-session Part 2 Beginner hand-building course is designed to help participants build on their foundational skills and refine the techniques learned during the 8-week Intro to Clay class.
Over the course of five 2.5-hour sessions, participants will advance their hand-building skills by creating more complex forms, working on consistency, and experimenting with design elements. Students will learn about the properties of clay while developing skills in coil, slab, and pinch construction that will support them through their pottery journey.
Beginner’s Glazing Part 2
Prerequisite: 8 Week Intro to Clay Class and either Beginner's Hand-Building Part 2 or Beginner's Wheel Throwing Part 2
This is the Glazing component of our Beginner's Part 2 series! Bring the bisque-fired pieces from your Part 2 wheel and/or hand-building class, and we will cover all of the essentials of glazing before moving on to explore several techniques and tricks to help you achieve the glaze results you are looking for.
Spin Together: A Date Night Pottery Experience
Get ready to get a little messy and a lot creative in this playful two-hour date night pottery session! Designed for couples, partners, or pals looking for a fun and memorable evening, Spin Together invites you to share laughs, experiment on the pottery wheel, and enjoy the art of making, not perfecting.
With guidance from an experienced instructor, you’ll learn basic wheel-throwing techniques and experience the satisfying feel of clay spinning beneath your hands. All materials and tools are provided, just bring your curiosity and a sense of humor.
This isn’t about walking away with a finished pot; it’s about enjoying the process and each other. At the end of the night, you’ll have a chance to snap photos of your creations before the clay is reclaimed, leaving you with lasting memories, minus the pressure!
